Wimbledon: strawberries, Strength and reinvention
I LOVE Wimbledon and have done since I was 5.
it’s the Gladiatorial nature of it.
I’ve been to the All England Club several times and the atmosphere is buzzing, the Pimms is flowing, strawberries and cream are on the menu every game, set and match can have your very last nerve jangling.
Britain can get a bit of a bad wrap at time culinary wise but the tradition of the Strawberry feels very British and the wild version is recorded as being consumed back in Tudor and Stuart times.
Full of Vitamin C and part of our daily 30g fibre intake recommended every day.
I love mine with cream or ice cream but they’re great in my berry smoothies with kefir and loads of flaxseeds and kefir.
Back to the Gladatorial nature of the tennis game.
It comes down to strength and self accountability in my opinion and its the same in life and health. We all know it takes strength of mind and no-one is going to do it for us.
On the grass courts of Wimbledon when things aren’t going a players way, they can reach out to their coaching team but after that they’re on their own making the right shots happen to get the points needed to win the match.
As a coach and a nutrition and lifestyle enthusiast on my own health journey I have expert knowledge, I’m always making sure I’m up to date, I can listen, research and read. Ultimately, though, it’s up to ME. I’m even more an expert in ME.
This week saw the return of Serena Williams to centre court after 4 years and the continued work of Novak Djokovic.
Both have reinvented themselves to create success over the years. Serena deciding to refocus her body and mind to make a return and Novak over the years has changed his serve and his diet had a major overhaul a few years back.
They had to choose what systems and tools work for them. I can choose what systems and tools work for me
I have the power within ME.
We ALL do.
So, that’s Wimbledon for me. It’s not just about the tennis but about people backing themselves when it counts.
You can have the knowledge and support, but the turning point for success comes from choosing your systems for self accountability.
